This is my truth - it's really the drive behind this whole creative venture and how I choose to live my life - we are born with a creative spark. It comes naturally to us as children. Children have an inherent ability to see the magic in the world around them.
If you don't nurture that spark into adulthood, you run the risk of falling into a routine of work-sleep-repeat. Sound familiar?
This is what I believe: We all have a creative spark somewhere inside of us. If we nurture that spark it can grow into a full-fledged fire that warms, enriches, and sustains.
I think about all the times I have huddled around a fire - on camping trips, at backyard fire pits, at summer camp. We gather to warm ourselves (comfort), to cook food (sustain), and to share, laugh, connect with others (build community).
Creativity can warm and comfort us. It can sustain us. At the very least, it makes life more interesting. And just as oxygen helps a fire to grow, so too does sharing your creativity with others.
I've long heard the saying: The creative adult is the child that survived. I agree, but I also believe that if your inner child did not survive into adulthood, it can still be revived.
You have a standing invitation to this campfire. Come back next time. I might have s'mores.
